The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office empowers libraries to create vibrant hubs of learning, conversation and connection in communities of all types.
To learn more about the Public Programs Office:

Get Involved
There are several ways to get involved with ALA's Public Programs Office.
- Sign up to receive the Programming Librarian e-newsletter. This bimonthly email includes highlights from the website, as well as current opportunities, related news and job announcements.
- Join our electronic mailing lists to stay up to date on PPO activities and network with fellow programming librarians.
- Contribute your expertise to ProgrammingLibrarian.org. We are always looking for submissions about creative library programs, programming tips and suggestions for online learning topics.
- Serve on ALA's Public and Cultural Programs Advisory Committee (PCPAC). Comprising a dedicated group of ALA members, PCPAC serves as the advisory board for the Public Programs Office. The committee meets twice annually at the ALA Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference; meetings are open to all conference attendees.
- Make a contribution to the ALA Cultural Communities Fund.
- Join the Programming Librarian Interest Group (PLIG) page on Facebook. (Please note: This is a closed group. To become a member, log into your Facebook account, search for "Programming Librarian Interest Group," and send a request to join. Requests are usually granted within 48 hours.)
